Nightfall Coloring Book by Maria Trolle (Published in Sweden as Skymningstimman)
Release Date: March 27, 2018
The much-anticipated second book by Swedish graphic designer Maria Trolle is finally here! Nightfall is a beautiful, hard cover book that will look gorgeous alongside her first book, Twilight Garden. Like the first book, the cover has a rich black background that colors and gold accents pop off of.
The black background is a reference to her signature black background coloring pages, brought back in this second collection of garden and forest creature inspired artwork. There are 94 full-page illustrations to color, one third of which feature a deep black background. Pages are printed back to back on heavy weight paper that is not perforated. The paper in this book is essentially the same paper featured in Hanna Karlzon’s books (at least in the American editions) — it is heavy, but if you use alcohol-based markers you will get bleed-through onto the image on the reverse side of the page. Just something to keep in mind. In my own copy of her last book, my water-based markers did not bleed through.
This book includes a “plant registry,” which allows colorists to look up the flowers included in this book, in case they would like to find photographs to inform their color choices. What a great feature — I feel like all realistic, nature-based coloring books ought to do this!
This is one of the books I am most looking forward to this month! If you enjoy coloring flowers, birds, insects, and other forest creatures, you should absolutely check out Maria Trolle’s work!
Fantomorphia: An Extreme Coloring and Search Challenge by Kerby Rosanes
Release Date: March 27, 2018
Kerby Rosanes is known — and beloved — for his ultra-detailed coloring pages featuring hidden doodles and other surprises. This coloring book features realistic fantasy creatures morphing into vast collections of doodles.
Not a whole lot of information is yet available on this book. According to Amazon, the book is 48 pages, which is shorter than the other books in his series of coloring books. There are probably about 36 pages to color, printed back to back on heavy paper, with some designs stretching across two pages. If the paper is like previous books, it is very smooth, almost toothless paper that doesn’t work super well with many brands of colored pencils.
This is an exciting new book for Kerby Rosanes fans and colorists new to his work alike. If you want to preorder this book, you can add it directly to your Amazon cart with the button below!
Tutankhamun: An Artist’s Coloring Book by Dominique Navarro
Release Date: March 24, 2018
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with Ancient Egypt. What kid isn’t, though? There’s just something about the mystery of the pyramids, the pharaohs’ tombs, and King Tut is the ultimate extension of that fascinating history.
Dominique Navarro, the illustrator of this book, is a talented natural history artist and writer based in Egypt. She has created a number of books about Egypt, including another coloring book in addition to this one. This book is being premiered with a traveling exhibition called King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh.
This book includes 16 full-page images to color, including a 17×11″ coloring poster. The images to color are printed on just one side of the page; there are smaller illustrations with printed information about the design opposite on the reverse sides of the pages.
The paper is a medium weight, not perforated, and suitable for colored pencils, pens, and gel pens, but not recommended for watercolors or alcohol-based inks like Sharpies or Copics.
Here’s a flipthrough video so you can see more of what’s inside, and you can add the book to your Amazon cart below that!
Bella Futura: A Coloring Book of Beauties & Beasts of the Future by Jennifer Zimmermann
Release Date: March 6, 2018
Jennifer Zimmermann has published a number of coloring books, and this latest one is devoted to “dazzling divas and beautiful beasts”! This book is perfect for if you are trying to improve your skills coloring skin, hair, and fur.
The book includes 25 unique, original illustrations to color, each printed twice in the book, once on a white background, and once on black. The book is letter-size and the images are printed on one side of the page only.
One unique feature of this book is that the artist includes a letter granting colorists permission to make limited copies for their own, personal use. This is a thoughtful feature and helpful if you like to copy out of your coloring books onto higher weight paper.
Grab your copy today and master those skin tones and creature textures! You can skip to 13 or 14 minutes into this Facebook video to view a flipthrough, or add the book directly to your Amazon cart using the button below!
Flowers & Gems by Grazia Salvo
Release Date: March 31, 2018
Grazia Salvo is a talented artist hailing from Italy. This month, Phoenix Amulet — one of the publishers I always have my eye on, since they publish extremely high quality work from artists around the world — is publishing her second coloring book, Flowers & Gems.
As you might have guessed from the title, this book heavily features both flowers and gems as accessories on these lovely ladies. All the women in the book are close-cropped, mostly neck-and-up. The coloring pages are almost in a halfway point between traditional coloring page and grayscale; there are thick black outlines in many places, but things are shaded in a light, painterly way. This would be a great book for learning how to shade skin and faces.
This coloring book is extremely high quality. There are 40 original designs to color, printed on one side only of “thick, toothy paper.” The pages are perforated, so you can remove them for coloring or display. The book is spiral bound on the left side, with a cardstock cover that conceals the binding when the book is closed.
Here’s a flipthrough from the book, and you can add it directly to your Amazon cart using the button below!
Art Deco Fashion Art Colouring Book: Make Your Own Masterpiece
Release Date: March 19, 2018
I’ve had my eye on this book for a while! This new coloring book, published by Flame Tree Studio, offers 45 coloring book renderings of classic art deco fashion illustrations by Georges Barbier and the artists of Harpers’ Bazaar.
Not too much other info is available about this book yet, but I am guessing that the images are printed on one side of the page only (as there are 45 illustrations to color and the book is over 90 pages) and the paper is a medium weight (from the Amazon description: “You can use a wide variety of pens: from gel and pencil, to pigment and crayons, from ballpoint and rollerball to highlighters, although it’s best to avoid the heavy felt pens.”) The pages are perforated for ease of removal.
This book is a great choice for fans of the art nouveau / art deco style or of fashion illustration. Check out more info on Amazon by clicking the cover, above, or click the button below to add it directly to your cart!
I Heart Mermaids: Keep Calm and Colour In! by Anastasia Catris
Release Date: March 6, 2018
Anastasia Catris, illustrator of a number of previous coloring books, is back with another great book, this time hopping on the recent trend of mermaid coloring books.
Like the book above, not much is available about this book. It is a relatively small 6×8 inches. You can click through to Amazon by clicking the images above and see if by the time you read this, someone has reviewed the book and provided more info. Still, I love Catris’ linework and this looks like a beautiful new release!
Posh Creativity: D Is for Doodling
Release Date: March 6, 2018
This one isn’t exactly a coloring book, but I thought you guys would like it so I wanted to add it in! D is for Doodling is a book that essentially teaches you to doodle. On one side of each page spread you have a plain black and white, simple line drawing; on the other side you have an inspirational quote and a finished version of the same drawing for your inspiration. Copy the doodles from the opposite page, or create your own!
Creative Haven Bird Mandalas Coloring Book by Jo Taylor
Release Date: March 21, 2018
Creative Haven publishes a lot these days, not all of it their best work, but I do always try to include any new releases that catch my eye, and this new book by Jo Taylor did just that! This is a book of bird mandalas, just like it says on the tin. If you like birds, you’ll enjoy filling these geometric rings of feathery creatures with color.
Like pretty much all Creative Haven books, this book features 31 original illustrations printed on one side only of perforated, medium weight paper.
Creative Haven Vintage Flower Seed Packets Coloring Book by Marty Noble
Release Date: March 21, 2018
This is another Creative Haven book, this time illustrated by colorist favorite Marty Noble! I thought this was a clever theme for a coloring book — each page features a design from a vintage flower seed packet for your coloring enjoyment. Bask in the beautiful blooms, vintage details, and laughably low prices.
Like pretty much all Creative Haven books, this book features 31 original illustrations printed on one side only of perforated, medium weight paper.
Lines & Dots: Animals
Release Date: March 15, 2018
This is an interesting take on a coloring book — in fact, it brands itself “a new kind of coloring” — and I debated whether or not to include it here, because it does sort of seem like a lazy way of creating a coloring book. However, it is a novel idea so I can give it that!
This book presents lines or dots of varying sizes that you can fill with just one color to create the image of an animal. The coloring spaces create a sort of pointillism effect where taken as a whole, the closer shapes blur to create darker patches of color, creating the form of an animal.
I’ll admit — coloring with just one color sounds a little tedious to me! But I can see how it might be a relaxing way to spend some time coloring while watching a TV show or listening to a podcast.
Cattitude: A Coloring Book
Release Date: March 21, 2018
This new coloring book by Natasha Cribbs celebrates felines and their many personalities. The book features a number of images of cats contorting into crazy poses, interspersed with “wallpaper” style repeating patterns of cat-related objects. In total, the book features 36 illustrations printed on just one side of CreateSpace paper.
Great gift for a cat lover in your life!

I’m enjoying ColorIt’s new Colorful Seasons
https://www.colorit.com/collections/featured/products/colorful-seasons-coloring-book-adults
That looks like a fun one!!
I have all Kerby Rosanes books, you say the paper doesnt work well with many brands. I use prsimacolors, faber casteel polychromos, even did many pages with derwent inktense. No problem at all.
That’s good to know! I don’t personally own any of his books and was just basing that statement off reviews. I stand corrected! Glad you’re finding that they stand up well to your pencil collection!
