The Ultimate Street Art Coloring Book
Release Date: April 15, 2018
This successfully-funded Kickstarter project features the talents of 44 street artists from around the world. There are at least 100 illustrations based on street murals printed on high-quality, “wood free” paper and housed in an attractive and durable hard cover. The book is slightly smaller than 10 inches square, features sewn binding, and the coloring pages are perforated for easy removal. There is a directory of full-color photos of the murals and information about their artists.
For every book sold, the publisher donates a textbook for a child in need. This is truly a coloring book you can feel good about.
Gypsy Dancer Coloring Book by Deborah Muller
Release Date: April 2, 2018
This beautiful new book by Deborah Muller features gypsies and belly dancers in Muller’s whimsical, thick-outlined, signature style. There are over 50 images to color, printed on one side only of rather thin (CreateSpace) paper.
Fanciful Dogs in Secret Places: A Dog Lover’s Coloring Book
Release Date: April 17, 2018
This beautiful book by Honoel includes over 80 pages of illustrations of man’s best friend and is a followup to the popular book Mystical Cats in Secret Places by the same artist.
The images are printed front and back, on both sides of heavy weight paper. The pages are non-perforated and glue bound.
Whimsical Wonders Coloring Book by Julia Spiri
Release Date: April 1, 2018
This artist’s edition coloring book by Julia Spiri features 50 different pages to color, each with a whimsical, fantasy character. The images are printed one side only of heavy weight (118lb), light cream colored paper. The binding is sewn and the pages are perforated. As one reviewer described it, “I have never seen such a pretty coloring book in my life!”
Notebook Doodles Adorable Pets: Coloring & Activity Book
Release Date: April 20, 2018
This Design Originals brand coloring book, illustrated by Jess Volinski, is a little bit more geared towards children than the coloring books I typically feature in my roundups, but I couldn’t help it — the designs just looked like a lot of fun, and you rarely see a pet themed coloring book beyond your standard cats and dogs. The publisher describes this book as being for “tweens” — those who think kids’ coloring books are “too juvenile” and adult coloring books are “too adult.”
This book features 32 designs printed on one side only of heavy, perforated pages. The publisher claims you can even use watercolors in these books! The book features 20 color palettes to inspire you.
Scratch Magic: Mandalas
Release Date: April 1, 2018
This isn’t a coloring book, exactly, but rather a scratch art book! If you have never heard of scratch art, it involves a type of colorful paper printed over in a black waxy layer that you use a scratch tool to carefully remove in the places you want to remove! I remember making my own scratch art paper as a kid by coloring a design with markers on thick paper, then covering it in a thick layer of black crayon. The pages of these modern scratch art books are much more refined.
Printed on the black paper are outlines of mandalas. Scratch in the spaces of the mandala to reveal beautiful color, like magic! The scratch tool is included with the book. There are 10 pages of scratch art just waiting for you to reveal their beautiful designs!
Cats in Space Coloring Book
Release Date: April 9, 2018
CATS… IN… SPACE!
100% silly, this cat-themed coloring book takes our favorite felines and places them in the best of sci fi scenarios. Inside this quirky coloring book, you’ll discover planets, space, laser beams, fireballs, unicorns, black holes, moons, stars, all the backdrop to some cosmic cats.
The book features 20 images, printed on one side of thin paper (published with CreateSpace).
Needless to say, this book makes a great gift for cat lovers with a love of sci fi. Or pretty much anyone. Why not? It’s cats in space!
100 Best Grayscale Coloring Pages by Alena Lazareva
Release Date: April 21, 2018
Alena Lazareva is a fantasy illustrator who has published a number of grayscale coloring books translating her artwork to coloring pages. This collection bridges her entire collection, featuring fantasy figures and fairies, unicorns, mermaids, goddesses, fashion designs, winter images, Halloween images, funny animals, and more.
The book includes 100 images to color, printed on one side only of thin (CreateSpace) paper.

Really? Just 6? It’s only the 9th! Perhaps later this month would be better for this post. Of those you mentioned, zero interest in any of them. I’m an adult. Disabled medically & physically 54 yo female. I spend a great deal of time either in bed or in a wheelchair. I really rely on you to show me what’s great in coloring books. This one didn’t make the grade. What happened to the sample pages? I don’t by a book ’cause the cover is pretty. I need justification regarding image quality. Not impressed this month, so sorry to say. Perhaps next month will have better choices. Until then, be blessed.
Hi Diane! I post these roundups early in the month and continually update them throughout the month, so stay tuned! I’ll share another update to my newsletter at the end of the month so you can see all my picks.
I recently ran into a hiccup where two artists reported my Pinterest account for copyright infringement on previews from coloring books. I may find another way to be able to offer these, but at the moment I cannot jeopardize my website and Pinterest account to provide the previews I had previously included. Please know that I’m looking into some other solutions for this!
Sorry this one didn’t measure up this time, Diane! I always appreciate feedback and I’ll do my best to keep creating the awesome roundups you expect when you visit my site! 👍
