Hey guys! This is another one of my monthly roundups of the best new coloring books to be released in the month of February 2018!
I think starting in March, I am going to start publishing this list at the beginning of the month, and update it as I discover other releases worth your time! So, it may no longer be a top ten, per se. But I’m noticing a lot of other coloring blogs publish their monthly roundups sooner than mine, and I don’t want to miss out on that wave by carefully publishing my list at the end of the month. Do you guys care one way or another? I’d love to know what you think in the comments!
In this monthly series, I will be rounding up the list of the hottest new releases in the coloring book world for the past month, so you don’t need to dig to find new books you’ll love. Feel free to sound off about other new releases you’ve got your eyes on in the comments!

1. Fairy Tale Princesses & Storybook Darlings Coloring Book
Release Date: February 17, 2018
Fans of Hannah Lynn’s big-eyed beauties with long, flowing locks will be thrilled at this new coloring book, featuring classic storybook princesses. Included are female protagonists from stories like Cinderella, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, the Wizard of Oz, and many more stories. This is Hannah’s eighth coloring book.
The book is a standard letter-size (8.5×11 inches) with 25 designs each printed two times for a total of 50 pages to color. The designs are printed on just one side of the page with the reverse left blank. The paper is on the thin side (CreateSpace paper), though the blank reverse side of the pages means you can protect the pages below from bleed-through. All designs feature Hannah Lynn’s signature style with thick outlines that are easy to color within.

2. Intricate Ink: Animals in Detail Volume 3
Release Date: February 15, 2018
Tim Jeffs is an artist well-known for his highly-realistic, detailed pen and ink renderings of animals. This is his third volume of grayscale animal illustrations to color.
Published by Pomegranate, this is a high quality coloring book. It has glossy hard covers, thick paper, illustrations on just one side of the page, and rich black backgrounds that really allow the animals to take center stage. There are a total of 25 animals to color, including snakes, birds, big cats, fish, lizards, and more.
Reviewers delight in the fact that their finished colorings look like incredibly realistic renderings of animals. Don’t wait — you can grab your own copy on Amazon!
3. Nice Little Town: Adult Coloring Book, Volume 4
Release Date: February 1, 2018
Tatiana Bogema’s many fans have been anticipating this newest release, her fourth volume in the Nice Little Town series.
This book includes 27 original illustrations to color, printed on just one side of the page. The reverse is printed with a block of black ink, which some colorists have found makes their supplies less likely to bleed through the paper. Regardless of this, the paper is thin (CreateSpace paper) so definitely protect the pages below with additional paper if you plan to use markers or another wet medium.
4. Hello Angel Beauty of Nature Coloring Book
Release Date: February 12, 2018
This high quality book was illustrated by Angelea Van Dam and published by Hello Angel. It includes over 60 pages of designs printed on one side of heavy paper, with lightly-printed inspirational quotes on the reverse.
The beginning of the book includes a 16-page full-color artist’s guide with suggestions for how to color the pages that follow, with many examples of patterning, color combinations, and shading to inspire you. Some of the pages are “guided,” including a fully-colored example and offering up a color palette you can draw from for your own design.
Let’s talk about the paper for a second. This is extra-thick, artist grade paper. The publisher boasts that it is “archival-grade, acid-free, 200-year paper that resists bleed-through.” If you use acid-free, lightfast coloring supplies, your designs should stay as you colored them for, well, 200 years to come. That is something few coloring books can offer. In addition, the pages are perforated for ease of removal and display.
You’ll love this artist’s grade coloring book — grab your copy on Amazon today!
5. Dreamlings: A Magical Coloring Book
Release Date: February 11, 2018
This new coloring book by Edwina McNamee has gotten an explosion of attention from colorists, already garnering 28 reviews on Amazon at the time of this writeup. It has a 4.5 average, so you know people like it!
This book has a real fantasy art, whimsical style. There are mushrooms on nearly every page, some of them houses for the fantasy critters that live within. There are 28 original illustrations on white backgrounds, 26 of which are repeated in the book with a rich black background that really makes your colored page pop! With over 50 designs to color, this one will keep you busy for a while.
The designs are printed on just one side of the page, with the reverse left blank. The black background images only are printed on the reverse with a block of solid black, like the Nice Little Town books, to try and limit bleed-through. The paper is thin, CreateSpace paper and the pages are not perforated. If you like the previews above, click over to Amazon and check out more preview images. This is a really nicely-illustrated book!
6. Creative Haven Fanciful Sea Life Coloring Book
Release Date: February 15, 2018

She just has such a whimsical, relatable art style that is perfect for coloring. With this new book by Creative Haven, she is bringing that style to undersea life. Inside this book, you’ll find fish, whales, octopi, sea turtles, jellyfish, and even a sunken ship and treasure chest.
This book includes 31 original illustrations, printed on one side of medium weight paper. The paper is bright white and perforated for easy removal.

There are 32 pages of designs to color by multiple artists. They are printed single-sided on thin, letter-size paper. Some designs are higher quality than others. Still, if you like the style of the art on the cover, there are a number of pages within that you will enjoy! Get your copy on Amazon today.
10. The Magical Garden Party: Creative Art Therapy For Adults
Release Date: February 14, 2018
This new coloring book by Mel King centers around the garden! It is a small 8.5 inches square. From Amazon I cannot tell how many pages there are to color, but they are printed on just one side of the page. The paper is thin, CreateSpace paper.
BONUS: Color Me Murder
Release Date: February 27, 2018
This isn’t a coloring book — rather, it is a murder mystery. But the reason I included it in my roundup this month is because the protagonist is a coloring book artist!
Although this is not a coloring book, you can color the intricately detailed front and back cover!
So there you have it — ten brilliant new coloring book releases for the month of February, plus a bonus!

Thanks for publishing these great lists of new coloring books. I also appreciate that you list the paper quality. I have stopped buying Createspace coloring books. Sadly, i will bypass some excellent artists if their art is on Createspace. I’d rather spend a little more for better quality.
Hi Sheila, I’m so glad you enjoy them! I definitely always try to list paper quality when it’s available because I know that it is very important to many colorists.
CreateSpace is tricky — I know that there are many artists who would be unable to share their work with the world if a print-on-demand option isn’t available, so I still try to highlight them when I think the art is worth noting. Many of these artists allow colorists to copy pages out of the book onto the paper of their choice, for personal use only, so that is something to consider if you like a particular self-published artist. But I totally understand your desire for books with heavier paper, so I always make sure to include some premium paper options. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Adrienne!
I like the idea of sending your selections for the list as they come. Maybe at the end of the month you could also send the full list?
You have wonderful, thoughtful reviews. Thank you for taking the time to do all this work!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! That’s actually my plan — to announce the list when I first get it online (with major releases that I’ve been keeping an eye on for the last few months) and send it out again at the end of the month with the full list.
Appreciate you stopping by! :)
Thanks so much for the detailed reviews on the coloring books and their contents including the type of paper. I wish I had the budget to get them all but this will help to narrow down the choices!
Glad you enjoyed the roundup, Lauren! My goal is to make it easy for you guys to decide which new books are best for you so I’m so happy you found it helpful! Thanks for reading! :)

Adrienne,
This is an amazing place. Never thought of a website exclusively for ‘Coloring’ and ‘Coloring books’ even exists. I’m super excited. Would be glad to write an article on your webpage. I have a coloring book published and would be glad to have it listed on your webpage.
Keep the ‘Coloring’ spirit on!
