A Detailed Look: ArtisticLetters Coloring Canvases
ArtisticLetters coloring canvases are completely customizable to feature any name or your favorite quotation, proverb, or saying.
The canvases are available in several neutral colors, and there is a 3D effect on the coloring letters to make them really pop off the canvas. These professional, gallery-wrapped canvas pieces measure 24″ across by 10″ tall and have a 1.5″ depth. There is hardware on the back to make it easy to hang your finished design!
The design within the letters is abstract — there are some floral type shapes in there, but for the most part you can treat the design inside as random spaces to fill with your colors of choice.
Coloring canvases make great personalized gifts!
As I mentioned above, coloring canvases are great gifts for friends and family who love to color. Whether you get a canvas with their first name, last name, or favorite saying, the personalized gift is sure to feel really special. Plus, once the recipient has colored it in, they can easily display it in their home since the hardware is already attached.
They can also make a fun handmade gift for a friend or family member if you are the resident colorist! Weave their favorite colors together in a design that shows you’re thinking of them.
In fact, the canvases I colored for this review are going on to be a gift for my Aunt Carole! My aunt is a caring and creative person who loves the color purple. She got me interested in crafts and art from a young age, and even from a distance she has gone on to be my #1 blog fan — in fact, I bet she is going to see this review long before I am able to give them to her. (Hi Aunt Carole!)
Whether you color it for your recipient or leave it for them to color, these coloring canvases make great birthday gifts, Mothers’ Day gifts, and Christmas gifts!
How should you color them?
ArtisticLetters recommends coloring these canvases with fine tipped permanent markers, such as Sharpies or Bics.
If you would like more color selection, I had no problem coloring them with the fine tipped end of my Tombow dual-ended brush markers, which come with 96 colors.
Here are my finished canvases!
I was really excited to try these out because it was my first time coloring on canvas, and I am so thrilled with how they turned out!
On a not very interesting but pretty important note, the first thing I did before starting to color was put two layers of masking tape over the hardware on the back. Don’t want to scratch my desk! I definitely recommend you do the same if you’re coloring at a desk or on a table.
To color these, I started with the name canvas. Since it is a gift I am giving to my aunt, I based the colors off of her favorites, especially purple. The limited color palette ties the whole canvas together! If I do another coloring canvas at some point, I might try alternating the main color scheme of the letters or doing a different color per letter.
When I first started coloring it, I tried using some extra fine point Sharpies, which were too fine! The marker crapped out and I realized that I’d have to switch. Fortunately, the fine tip end of my Tombows worked great, and it gave me way more color choices than I’d had before anyway.
Next, I colored the quote!
Creativity is a wild eye and a disciplined mind. -Dorothy Parker
I bounced back and forth a couple of creativity-themed quotes before we settled on this one. Ultimately, this quote made it because there was an obvious (and long — more to color!) word to have as the focal point. That is something to keep in mind when you decide on a quote!
For this one I picked a color scheme that I hoped was the tropical, “creative” sister scheme of rainbow. Five colors was a good number for this purpose — enough that I could evenly distribute the colors across the spaces and not so many that it feels like a free-for-all.
In the end, I think it turned out really great! It was fun seeing the designs go from idea, to proof, to finished works of art.
Okay, I’m sold… where can I order?!
Yay, I am so excited that you are going to get your own coloring canvas — I know that you or the person you’re giving it to is going to love coloring it as much as I did!
Right now, Jodi is offering these custom coloring canvases at a special introductory price of $39.95 with free shipping anywhere in the continental United States. (These canvases are not currently available in Hawaii, Alaska, and other countries.) If you buy three, you get a fourth for free! These prices won’t last — they may be going up when April starts, so get your order in ASAP!
To get started, click here to go to ArtisticLetters’ website and begin your order!
The ordering process is simple; first, check out securely with PayPal, then submit through the contact form on that page the details of the design(s) you are looking for. In addition to choosing the name or expression for your canvas, you can choose from four background colors: eggshell, khaki, gray, and charcoal.
Once you place your order, Jodi designs each canvas, and sends a preview of the design in about a business day.
Once you approve the design, it is printed on canvas and wrapped around a sturdy wooden frame. In about three business days it gets shipped, and should arrive at its final destination 3-5 days after that.
If you are ordering for a special occasion like a birthday or Mother’s Day, you will want to order at least 2-3 weeks before you need the canvas.
