Bears are some of the most dynamic creatures in the animal kingdom. We fear their attacks when camping, tie up 911 operators reporting non-threatening sightings, and it’s annoying when they dig through our garbage. But we also love bears – cuddly stuffed animals are one of the most iconic toys we give to our children, right up there with Barbie dolls and Legos.
They’re wild animals, but sometimes their instincts seem a little more… human. They have learned to sit in our chairs, respond with a wave, and perhaps even react in a way that seems more like a person than an animal. This amusing fact has led to the creation of a popular subreddit, Bears Doing People Things.
Stephen Colbert might not be too happy about America’s greatest threat becoming more like us in their mannerisms, but you have to admit that it’s pretty amusing. Keep reading for lots of hilarious bears doing people things.
1. Bears have learned to wave back.
2. No, really. They really want to get our attention.
3. They’re learned to sit in our chairs:
4. …more or less.
5. It’s like they’re waiting for us to react, or something.
6. What do you want, bears?
7. They’ve learned to sit in other things, too. Must have been a hot day.
8. They’re not always so up-front, though. Sometimes they’re pretty shy.
9. Sometimes they’re even helpful.
10. See?
11. It can be hard to know what they’re thinking, at times.
12. Maybe they’re just a little confused.
13. Or want to learn from us.
14. When in Russia…
15. “Paint me like one of your French girls.”
16. This one just wants to dance.
17. And this bear is impeccably polite.
18. This one is a little more familiar. Put ‘er there, pal.
19. And this one is just a little hungry. Can you blame him?
20. Don’t get in the way of a hungry bear, whatever you do. Wasn’t there supposed to be a pie on this windowsill?
21. They can be really resourceful once they get your food.
22. But really, I think by acting like humans bears are just trying to get a new perspective on the world.
23. They have learned our tricks…
24. …and just want to be a little more knowledgeable about the world around them.
25. Well, they’ve learned some tricks, at least.
