When was the last time you built a sand castle? I’m willing to bet it was a while ago, and I’m sure it didn’t look as perfect as these.
Created by New York artist Calvin Seibert, these geometric sandcastles are truly a sight to behold. According to Seibert, these works are unplanned and organically evolve out of the shapes he imagines in the sand. He explains that building sand castles is like a fight against nature and time; the elements are always working against you.
Seifert’s influences are vast, but include architecture, modernist sculpture, and more quaint scenes like a fisherman’s village. You can see all of these and more in the photos above and below.
