Best Succulent & Cactus Coloring Books & Pages

Written by Adrienne

Succulents, cacti, fairy gardens, and terrariums are nothing new, but they’ve enjoyed a fair bit of popularity the last few years! Maybe it’s just the appeal of a plant that forges on, even if you forget to water it for a week or two (guilty), but I think there’s something more to it. How else can you explain the popularity of succulent and cactus coloring books?!

Geometrically, succulents often grow in a very pleasing, repeated design that radiates out from the center. Plus, they come in a rainbow of colors, from deep reds, to delicate lavenders, to greens and stony greys. What’s not to love about these hardy houseplants?

The artists below have created a beautiful array of cactus and succulent coloring books for any taste. There are full-size and travel-size coloring books; digitally-illustrated and hand-drawn coloring books; abstract and realistic designs. After the books, you’ll even find a collection of beautiful succulent and cactus coloring pages by a variety of Etsy artists, perfect for if you want something to color right now.

So what are you waiting for? Keep scrolling to see the best cactus coloring books and cactus coloring pages!

This roundup comes from a reader suggestion in my 2018 reader survey. If you are looking for a specific type of coloring book, I’d love to hear from you! I regularly create collections of coloring books by theme like this one, and your suggestions could help determine future roundup themes.

Succulent & Cactus Coloring Books

Love cacti and succulents? Show your adoration with the coloring books below, which each contain many pages of beautiful succulents and playful cacti. Most are physical books, except the last few which are available as an instant download. Almost all feature original art by indie illustrators. What are you waiting for?!

Desert Dreams: Coloring a Land of Enchantment

Desert Dreams: Coloring a Land of Enchantment

Desert Dreams: Coloring a Land of Enchantment

I featured this gorgeous coloring book illustrated by Geninne D Zlatkis in my roundup of the best coloring books from summer 2017. I love Zlatkis’ folksy, whimsical art style, and the desert theme is the perfect match to that look.

This book features 40 original illustrations printed on one side of heavy-weight paper. The pages are perforated for ease of removal, or if you want to leave your pages in the book, the binding is a very high quality.

This book is also very “green” — its publisher is a carbon-negative company, has planted over half a million trees in the last decade, and the paper is sourced from recycled materials and sustainably managed forests.

With images featuring a variety of desert flora and fauna, including many cacti, there’s something for everyone to love here!

Succulents Portable Adult Coloring Book

Succulents Portable Adult Coloring Book

This colorful succulent-themed coloring book was illustrated by Alisa Burke and features 31 full-page, original images to color. As a part of Peter Pauper Press’ “studio series,” this is a true artist’s coloring book; the paper is heavy and acid-free, and designs are printed on just one side of the page. The pages are also micro-perforated, making it easy to neatly tear pages out of the book to work on a clipboard or to display!

This book is smaller than most coloring books, at just 5 by 7 inches, making it a very portable size. This is something to keep in mind if you prefer letter-sized coloring books, however! The images included range from full-page spiraling succulent patterns, to single terrariums, to floral scenes, to collections of tiny potted plants. Some pages even include animals!

I love Alisa Burke’s organic style, with heavier, more forgiving lines than some books. The designs are cute without feeling childish. This is an excellent introduction to cactus coloring books!

Mindful Succulents Coloring Book: A Tiny Terrarium Coloring Book

Mindful Succulents Coloring Book: A Tiny Terrarium Coloring Book

This succulent coloring book was illustrated by Calvin Drews. It is also smaller than most coloring books, clocking in at 8.5 inches square. The book includes 55 original illustrations of botanical mandalas, succulent arrangements, and terrariums. The book is printed through CreateSpace, so keep in mind that the paper will be fairly thin. However, the pages are printed on just one side of the page, so you can protect the illustrations below by slipping additional paper below the drawing you are working on.

Don’t you love the cover of this one? So playful! There’s also a cute coloring supply test page inside that mimics the design of the cover, but in black and white.

The designs in this book are overall on the pretty simple side, but that is perfect if you are someone who likes to create your own detail or do lots of shading and texture. Most of the pages are either single large terrariums, collections of a few medium-size succulents, or pages with collections of mini potted plants.

This little book is another fun travel-size succulent and cactus coloring book, and it’s so cute! Makes a great gift for a succulent obsessed friend — or yourself!

This book is one of several by independent publisher Zing Adult Coloring Books. There is very little information available about the book, but it is a full 8×10″ book and I believe the pages are printed on just one side. From the preview images available, it looks like the artwork featured was created by several different artists and is possibly stock rather than originally created for this book. Still, the images are cute and a variety of styles might be just what you need to keep things varied.

Sensational Succulents: An Adult Coloring Book of Amazing Shapes and Magical Patterns

Sensational Succulents: An Adult Coloring Book of Amazing Shapes and Magical Patterns

One of the earliest succulent-themed coloring books, Sensational Succulents features 75 original illustrations by Laura Serra based on photographs by “Queen of Succulents” Debra Lee Baldwin.

The illustrations are printed on one side of the page only, so with a few sheets of paper below the one you are working on, you can protect the pages below. Many of the illustrations are full page patterns that get quite intricate, as you can see above! Illustrations are accompanied by the name of the succulent, so you can look up photos and get inspiration for your color palette.

Some reviewers note that the designs run into the binding and the book is a little hard to get to sit flat open. I am unable to determine the quality of the paper.

Cactus Coloring Book features the original artwork of designer and blogger Brittany Jepsen. The book is divided into 10 different sections of different types of cacti and succulents. Each section includes a scientific chart, bouquet, stylized pattern, symmetrical repeated design, close-up, and a “wallpaper” style pattern.

There are 60 pages to color, printed on just one side of the page. The book is self-published through CreateSpace, so the paper is on the thin side. Those who prefer full-size coloring books will appreciate that this book is a full 8.5×11″. If you love cacti, be sure to check out this book!

Desert Wonderland: A Serene Coloring Retreat

Desert Wonderland: A Serene Coloring Retreat

Desert Wonderland is a followup to artist Rachel Reinert’s earlier coloring book, Botanical Wonderland. Both books include rock formations, a small amount of Zentangling, and flora, but Desert Wonderland has much more of a desert theme and many of the pages include cacti and succulents.

The book includes 45 hand-drawn, original illustrations by Reinert. They are printed on just one side of medium-weight, bright white, perforated paper. Reviewers note that water-based markers, like the my set of Tombow brush pens I tend to use for coloring, do bleed through, so be sure to place a sheet or two underneath the one you are working on.

The book is a full-size, 9×11 inches, and perfect for anyone who loves a desert flair to their coloring pages. Enjoy!

Succulent Serenity: A Coloring Book

Succulent Serenity: A Coloring Book

Succulent Serenity is a southwest-inspired coloring book illustrated by designer Gina Spadoni. The book is letter-size and includes 30 original pieces of lineart printed on just one side of the page. The book is published through CreateSpace, so the paper is on the thin side, but the printing allows for you to protect the pages that follow by slipping a few extra sheets underneath.

The designs in this book do NOT run into the binding (hallelujah!) and almost all feature a single succulent or cactus in an intricately patterned pot or teacup. All designs include unique backgrounds inspired by kilim rugs, ikat pillows and other desert designs.

Succulent Serenity, Cactus Calm: A Stress Relieving Coloring Book for Adults

This book is a followup of the book above. It includes 35 brand new original illustrations by Gina Spadoni. Like the first book, they are printed on just one side of the page and the paper is pretty lightweight.

The designs in this book vary quite a bit more than the first book’s. Some of the pages include multiple plants, while other pages include “wallpaper” style repeated succulent patterns. While I haven’t seen the book in person, from the previews I think the artwork is a lot less detailed, with larger spaces, than the first book. I personally don’t like the artwork in this book as much as the first one — on many pages the patterns just feel very simplistic compared to the first. Still, there are more designs than the first book, and larger spaces give you more room to work on texture.

Cactus & Succulents Travel Size Coloring Book

Cactus & Succulents Travel Size Coloring Book

This cactus-themed coloring book by OOLY is travel size — 6×8.5 inches — and includes 24 pages to color. The book’s pages have rounded corners (sort of unique feature for a coloring book) and they are printed front and back, making it more suited to colored pencils than markers. The paper is a light to medium weight. Some reviewers do comment that the binding quality is not the highest.

The illustrations are rather simple, but appropriate for the small size. Most pages feature collections of cacti and succulents in little planters, though some pages just feature a single terrarium.

This handmade and hand-bound coloring book features original illustrations by Cara Emilia, an “artist and succulent enthusiast” from Sacramento, CA. Emilia’s style is cute, and the designs range from simpler images with larger spaces to very intricately-patterned designs.

There are 26 original illustrations to color, printed in black ink on bright white paper. The paper is on the thin side, but the illustrations are printed on one side only, so you can protect the pages below.

This book includes 19 original illustrations, plus a bonus garden scene, hand-drawn in Photoshop by Dominique Fougère, a designer from California. Each detailed and realistic drawing is labeled with the plant’s common and scientific names. The book is handmade and printed on 100lb paper, a medium to heavy thickness that most water-based markers tend to not bleed through. All for just $13!

This coloring book is also available as a $10 digital download, so if you like instant gratification, you’ll enjoy that you can start coloring minutes after you buy! This is also the version I would recommend purchasing if you’d like to use watercolors, because you can print individual sheets on watercolor paper. You can also print this version as many times as you’d like (as long as it’s for personal use)!
