And it’s no wonder: these beautiful half human, half sea creature beings are the perfect blend of femininity and mystique. They are also well-suited to the adult coloring genre, as the designs sometimes also include some artistic or cleverly-concealed nudity.
This also felt like the perfect time to roll out a new feature I am bringing to future posts on Cleverpedia: filterable galleries! I love you guys!). Some of you love all the in-depth info that you’ll find below… and some of you just want a book suggestion, already. I get it. Mermaids: Calm Ocean Coloring Collection by Selina Fenech
This 2015 fantasy art coloring book by Selina Fenech is one of the first mermaid coloring books that comes to mind, so naturally I had to include it at the top of this roundup. With over 350 reviews on Amazon and an average of 4.5 stars, it’s one of the most popular books I’ve included in this roundup.
This book includes 25 unique designs, printed on one only side of relatively thin paper. There is actually a duplicate copy of each image included in the book, for a total of 50 pages to color. Pages are not perforated and due to the thinness of the paper, some media may bleed through, so protect the pages below with an extra sheet or two. Be forewarned that, like many mermaid coloring books, some of the artwork contains artistic/concealed nudity.
Portrait of the Mermaid Travel-Sized Coloring Book
I was so excited when I saw this coloring book. Isn’t artist Sara Burrier’s illustration style gorgeous?! I just love the mermaids’ long flowing tresses and all the lovely ornamentation on the designs.
This book is travel size, 6×9 inches. It includes 20 hand-drawn, original illustrations that fill the page edge to edge. The paper quality is light, CreateSpace paper, so this book is best suited to colored pencils, but markers work if you protect the pages below.
Creative Haven Mermaids Coloring Book
This Creative Haven coloring book was illustrated by Barbara Lanza, who illustrated another book further down this list. There are 31 original illustrations rendered in a realistic but not overly-detailed style.
Like all Creative Haven books, this book is printed on medium-weight paper and the images are printed on just one side of the page. The pages are perforated for ease of removal.
Mermaids Coloring Book: An Aquatic Art Adventure by Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Jasmine Becket-Griffith is a beloved fantasy art painter, and this coloring book draws from her mermaid paintings for an all-around high quality coloring experience.
This book includes 55 original illustrations to color, traced from Becket-Griffith’s mermaid paintings. They are printed on one side only of heavy, slightly cream-colored paper. The opposite side of the pagespread includes a short paragraph about the original painting upon which the coloring page is based. All images include a black border so you have an endpoint at which to finish your background.
Mermaid in Dress: Coloring Book by Ikuko
This new coloring book illustrated by Japanese artist Ikuko is quickly gaining a following from colorists on Facebook. Her art is very stylized and seems anime-inspired. I love the cover art of this book, done in watercolor — definitely a beautiful way to color these images!
This book includes 20 original, hand-drawn images to color, printed on thin (CreateSpace) paper. Each page is printed twice, for a total of 40 pages to color.

Pop Manga Mermaids and Other Sea Creatures: A Coloring Book by Camilla d’Errico
This book is still a few months off from release, so what we know about this book is rather limited. However, there will be 70 pages of original illustrations to color, printed on both sides of heavy weight paper, if it is anything like d’Errico’s previous Pop Manga book.
While the book focuses on mermaids, it also includes fish, seahorses, narwhals, and other sea creatures to color. Pre-order your copy today!
Mythical Mermaids: Fantasy Adult Coloring Book by Selina Fenech
This is a later mermaid coloring book by Selina Fenech which, according to the illustrator, contains “more adult, romantic, darker, and pin-up style mermaids.” Like the earlier book, it includes 25 illustrations to color, which are each printed twice in the book. Images to color are printed on one side of the page only and the paper is relatively thin.
Mermaids: A Mermaid Coloring Book with Mythical Ocean Goddesses by Jade Summer
If you are familiar with Jade Summer — which is not an actual person but is, in fact, a brand name owned by Fritzen Publishing LLC — you probably know that there is a Jade Summer book for every topic under the sun. Unsurprisingly, there’s a Jade Summer book of mermaid designs. Personally, I find them a little too cartoony for my tastes, but I wanted to include it to have a full collection of styles and books in this roundup. Plus, you can’t deny that the book is popular — with over 100 reviews on Amazon, it is averaging 4.5 stars.
This book contains 30 unique images to color, each printed twice, for a total of 60 pages to color. The book purchase also comes with a free PDF version. The paper is CreateSpace paper, which is rather thin.
Mermaids in Wonderland: A Coloring and Puzzle-Solving Adventure for All Ages by Marcos Chin
Mermaids in Wonderland is an intricately-illustrated adult activity book by Marcos Chin. The book is divided into two parts: Day and Night. Night features black backgrounds that make your colors pop off the page.
The book includes nearly 100 pages of designs to color, with many designs that spread across two pages. The book is printed on both sides of heavy weight paper that is not perforated. This book also includes four pop-out postcards to color and send.

This quirky coloring book uses a unique, doodly art style characteristic of Deborah Muller’s art. There are 30 pages to color printed on one side only of heavy paper.
The Little Mermaid: A Coloring Book (Classic Coloring Book)
This “classic coloring book” was illustrated by a team of artists to tell the classic story of the Little Mermaid. There are nearly 100 pages of designs to color printed on both sides of heavy weight paper. Many designs spread across a page spread, continuing into the binding. Some of the designs included are repeating patterns, though most are scenes, some of which include quotes from the story.
More than many of the books in this list, this book includes intricate backgrounds and scene-setting images of an underwater palace, Atlantis-style marble statues and columns covered in algae and sea plants, and more. Though I don’t love all the artwork in the book, it is very unique for what it is and I really appreciate the beauty of some of the scenes.
Mermaids in Paradise: An Artist’s Coloring Book by Denyse Klette
Let’s take a big step away from realism and instead look at the super-stylized designs in this book illustrated by Denyse Klette, a famous fantasy art illustrator. This book shows off her classic style of super-elongated limbs and bodies, with mermaids as a focal point. There are over 60 pages to color in this book, printed on one side of heavy weight paper.
Mermaids: Coloring Book for Adults & Kids (Volume 1) by Aada Baldwin
This self-published coloring book by Aada Baldwin features a variety of mermaids illustrated in a whimsical, loose, doodly style. The paper is thin, CreateSpace paper. I am not sure how many images are included or whether they are printed on both sides of the page.

This coloring book includes 25 original illustrations that follow the adventures of Captain Bethany Rosepearl. The illustrations are also duplicated a second time, so there are two copies of each page. The illustrations are printed on one side only; the second set of images has a black back and the first set has text on the reverse. The paper is on the thin side and colored pencils are recommended.
Sirena: Colorful Dream of Mermaids and Seashells Artist Edition Adult Coloring Book by Mardel Rubio
This high quality, artist edition coloring book was illustrated by Mardel Rubio and published by Phoenix Amulet Publishing. There are 40 pages of original designs to color printed on one side of heavy paper.
